Blair Waller

Blair Waller is a violist, biologist, and beekeeper who came to Peterborough in 2019 to attend Trent University and has made it home ever since. He brings to the Kawartha Chamber Music Collective the same careful attentiveness that defines both his scientific training and his work with bees: a disposition toward patience, observation, and quiet precision.

Blair studied viola with Marlene Danikw-Bath, Principal Violist of the National Youth Orchestra, and performed with the Niagara Youth Orchestra under the direction of Laura Thompson. In recent years he has immersed himself in Peterborough's musical theatre scene, performing in pit orchestras for productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Into the Woods with St. James Players, as well as productions with the Anne Shirley Theatre Company and the Peterborough Theatre Guild. Most recently he performed in Years With You, an independently produced original musical written and directed by a close collaborator.

Outside of music, Blair holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology from Trent University and has spent the past three years working as a beekeeper for Otonabee Apiary, tending hives along the same waterways that drew him to the Kawarthas in the first place.

Chamber music represents something different for Blair than the pit orchestra work he loves: a chance to be heard rather than to support, and to bring that same spirit of careful listening to music that puts every voice at the centre.
